Food Storage/Stockpile Calculators

As you can see I have been thinking alot about my food storage/stockpile lately.  Maybe because we have had the need this last year to use it because of a drop in our income.  My husband and I always talk about when this trial in our lives is over, that we need to make an extra effort to make sure we have a better supply built up.  Thankfully, I started couponing about the time our world was turned upside down.  I don't want to get into the details, but we have been hit with a 50% paycut for the last 1 1/2-2 yrs.  We have not had to change our eating habits (yes, we may not have been purchasing lots of steaks and seafood-but overall, not much change) or household items that we use.  I am so grateful for the blessing couponing has been to our family.  With that said, I was talking with a friend a while ago and she had researched Food Storage Calculators.  This is perfect!  I have always wondered how much of something I should be stocking up on.  Thanks Ginger for doing the work and finding these awesome resources!

I am including the links to two websites that she found helpful and that I am now using:

1.  Three Month Food Storage Supply

2.  Long Term Food Storage Calculator

Thanks so much to Ginger, PreparedLDSFamily and FoodStorageMadeEasy!!!

Stock Up Prices

I am sure most of you, like me, wonder "What is a good stock up price?".  Well, I went searching to see if I couldn't find some help and came across the KrazyCouponLady Stock Up Price List.  I found this very helpful for me because I always have a question on whether something is a good deal or not (if I don't see it on Grocery Smarts).

I hope this helps a little bit!

Thanks KrazyCouponLady!

Olay sent out a new rebate offer for $20 back on a $50 purchase. I have been able to do this rebate several times in the past and it works out to be a really great deal.

The purchasing dates are from 7/5-9/2 and you do not need to spend $50 all at once. Typically this is based on pre-coupon totals, so circle those ones on the receipt. Lately every week there has been some sort of RR, ECB or +Up deal on Olay so this can make for some very inexpensive products!

FYI - This rebate only applies to facial cleansers, facial treatments or facial moisturizers.

Can you say FREE FREE FREE!!!!!!!

So, I am not sure if you all know about the AWESOME coupon that Staples has right now (bummer it actually expires tomorrow), but it is SO cool!  They have a $3 off any purchase coupon that you can score some amazing stuff for FREE!!!!  What is even more amazing is that if you purchase exactly $3 then the coupon takes it away, making your subtotal $0 and they don't tax $0.  So, we walked away several times without even taking out my wallet.  It was the best.

So, the coupon says "Limit 1 coupon per person per day".  I have taken my girls and gone to 6 stores in the last 2 days to get all this fun stuff.  I am glad they humor me and go along with it. :)  I had a few cashiers say I can't do this, but I said that it says 1 per person, not 1 per household.

So here is what we got:
10 - 8oz hand sanitizer
3 - Wet Ones (40 wipes per container)
11 - 50ct closable sandwich bags
3 - 2pk (2oz) hand sanitizer
1 - 7ct magnetic clips
3 - 12pk gel mini pens
1 - 11x14 reversible dry erase board
3 - Flexible Straws (100 ct)
5 - 8.9x11.4 Expo dry erase boards (reversible)
1 - 12pk mechanical pencils
1 - 2pk sponges (the girls wanted them so they could "wash" their toys)
1 - 6 in 1 tool set (Mike thought this was good to have around)
2 - Reams of staples copy paper (will be free after rebate)

Then, we got 5 6pk of Bounty paper towels for a grand total of $10.76.

And yes, we will be going again tomorrow :)

Good luck!!!!!!

Starting Sunday at Walgreens: Make $2 on Children’s Medicine, Plus Glad & Huggies Deals

Did you all see Joanie, from The Krazy Coupon Lady, on TLC this last Wednesday!  She did a fantastic job at showing us what an Extreme Couponer does.  I loved watching them all--I do think that some of them have a little OCD in them (BIG TIME), but they are all inspiring.

Thanks to thekrazycouponlady for the following deals at Walgreen's this coming week.  They are written so well, I am not going to change a thing.

Here is an Easy $6 Money Maker at Walgreens starting Sunday January 2nd!

Children’s Oscillococcinum Homeopathic Flu Medicine, 6 ct $8.99
Buy 1, Receive a $9.00 Register Reward
$2.00/1 – Children’s Oscillococcinum Medicine – (oscillo.com)
$5.00/1 Oscillococcinum Natural Flu Relief, 6ct from the Walgreens Coupon Booklet Update!  I tried this today and it looks like the Walgreens Booklet coupon is only valid for the adult product, not the children's.  Bummer!!!
Pay $6.99, Receive a $9 RR
Final Price: $2.00 Money Maker!

I am going to buy the Medicine, then turn around and buy these two items, using my $9 RR as payment. Just remember to add in a small filler so that you can use the RR:
